VPN visibility guide explains why DNS leak checks need live sidecar observations.
DNS lookup FAQ
What is a DNS lookup?
A DNS lookup asks DNS for records attached to a domain or hostname, such as A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, NS, and TXT records.
Is this the same as a DNS leak test?
No. DNS record lookup resolves a domain. DNS leak and resolver-observation tests require the first-party sidecar and stay gated until live DNS observations are available.
Can DNS lookup show ASN context?
Yes. Resolved A and AAAA records can be enriched with related IP, ASN, RDAP, BGP, RPKI, and IRR context when those sources return data.
